Blue Shield:  Azure represents the color of an eastern sky on a clear day.  It also corresponds to the metal tin.  Blue denotes calmness and power of reflection.  It infers nobility of the soul and signifies Loyalty, Justice and Courage.  The color has also long been associated with purity and love, since the times when brides wore blue ribbons to the chapel.

Fish:  Fish are held to be suitable marks for military families as they are symbols of prowess and fortitude.  They are also symbols of the forces off industry and science, and emblems of the Christian faith of the bearer, especially in early coats of arms.
